MSS was founded in 1926 by Mr A L Rabinowitz, making it the oldest existing legal firm in Tygerberg. The firm boasts such stalwarts as David Minde, Manny Schapiro, Barry Schapiro and practicing senior partner, Mervyn Smith, who joined the firm in 1960.

The firm largely serves the broader corporate community by providing specialised legal services to various retail businesses, corporate entities, banks and financial institutions.

MSS has acted on behalf of several Local Authorities for over 50 years, including the Municipalities of Bellville, Brackenfell and Kraaifontein and their successors, the Tygerberg and Oostenberg Administrations, and latterly the City of Cape Town. The legal services provided range from complexed property matters, to simple transfers of land and litigation of all types, both in the High Court and the Magistrate's Court.

In 1997 MSS moved their offices from Durban Road, Bellville, where they had been for over 70 years, to splendid new offices in the fast-developing Tyger Valley area.
