Gerhard van Reenen


Gerhard has been with the firm for over 35 years, heading up the property department where his philosophy has been to turn new clients into long-term partners through excellent service. After graduating from the University of Cape Town in 1969 with a Diploma in Law, Gerhard was admitted as an attorney and conveyancer in 1972. He is a firm believer in integrity and excellence. Valued for his expertise in property law and conveyancing, Gerhard also serves on the Conveyancing Taxation Committee for the Cape Law Society. He is also an Honorary Member of the Cape Law Society.

Outside of work, he serves on the commission of Jan Kriel School, which caters for children with special needs and learning disabilities, to aid with fundraising of equipment. He enjoys spending time with his children, reading, photography, hiking and motor racing.

Louis Meyer


After obtaining the degrees B.Juris (in 1974) and LLB at the University of Port Elizabeth in 1978 Louis was admitted as an attorney and conveyancer in 1979. Louis has over 30 years of experience in all aspects of conveyancing. He has been consultant to a number of large developers in Cape Town over the years, including the City of Cape Town. He joined the Minde Schapiro & Smith professional team in 1980, honing his skills in property law and conveyancing. As a member of the Property Law Committee of the Cape Law Society, Louis enjoys staying abreast of the latest developments regarding immovable property.

Rosalie Smit


Rosalie joined the firm in 2000 straight after graduating from the University of Stellenbosch, obtaining B. Comm and LLB degrees. She was admitted as an attorney in 2003 and as notary public in 2006. Rosalie specialises in family law, foreclosures, High Court litigation and Magistrate’s Court litigation. Rosalie also serves as a Commissioner for the Small Claims court as part of her pro bono service to the community.

With excellent organisational skills, her working philosophy centres on attention to detail and giving honest and forthright advice. When not at work, she enjoys cooking for her family and travelling.

Marais Hoon


Marais obtained BA and LLB degrees from the University of Stellenbosch in 1992 and 1994 respectively.

In 1995 he was appointed as a Candidate Attorney at Kessler De Jager Inc, at which firm he remained as a Professional Assistant upon being admitted as an Attorney in 1997, mainly dealing in Criminal law, Civil litigation, Estates, Road Accident Fund claims and Conveyancing.

In 1998 he was a founding partner at the firm Kemp, Hoon and Fourie Attorneys, at which firm he started and headed up the conveyancing leg of the practice, after being admitted as a conveyancer.

In 2005 he established Marais Hoon Attorneys, with its focus being primarily on conveyancing, Road Accident Fund Claims and Estates.

After 17 years of specialising in property transfers and bond registrations and being on the panels of various financial institutions, he has gained a wealth of knowledge in these fields of expertise. Committed to delivering service excellence, he upholds strong ethical standards.

In 2016 Marais joined the Mindes team as a consultant in the conveyancing department.

Marais enjoys the outdoors. In his spare time he partakes in many activities which include boating and trail running.

Rolé Beeby


Rolé Beeby was born in Johannesburg and obtained a BA Law degree at Stellenboch University. In 2000 she obtained her LLB degree at the University of South Africa.

Rolé completed her articles of clerkship at Webber Wentzel Bowens lnc. in Cape Town, whereafter she was admitted as an attorney in 2003. She practiced as such and attended to matters mostly relating to litigation, contractual, family and insolvency law at Delport Ward and Pienaar Inc. In 2005, Role decided to open her own firm, namely, Rolé Beeby and Associates, as she wanted to focus on her family life and complete her notarial and conveyancing exams. She was admitted as a notary and conveyancer by the High Court in 2006, and has practiced as such ever since. In 2011, she was appointed as a senior conveyancing associate at Mclouhghlin Clark Attorneys lnc. She headed up their conveyancing department for a period of 6 years.

Rolé has recently joined the Mindes team as a conveyancing consultant, which prospect she is truly excited about. She specialises in general property law, including, but not limited to, drafting property agreements, all deeds of cessions and agreements of sale, drafting and the registration of antenuptial contracts, the registration of transfers, servitudes, notarial deeds of cession, land consolidation and subdivision, the registration and cancellation of mortgage bonds, deeds registry searches, drafting and issuing conveyancer’s certificates as well as opening and registering sectional title registers.

Marianne Olivier


Marianne completed her BComm {Law} and LLB degrees at the University of Stellenbosch in 1998 and 2000 respectively. She studied further and attained an LLM in Corporate Law at the University of Pretoria in 2005. Marianne qualified as a Conveyancer in 2004 and she was admitted as a Solicitor of England and Wales in 2006.

Marianne joined the Mindes team as a consultant in 2015. She also has her own offices in Pretoria where she specialises in sectional title developments.
